Are We Ready For The Big Night-An Empty Ground But We Can Enjoy At Home

Are We Ready For The Big Night?

Are we ready for the big night? Who said, what big night? Unless you’ve been living in a cave for the last few weeks, you will know exactly what the occasion is tonight. And, it is always with pleasure to mention again the reason for tonight’s ‘big night’ event.

Tonight, Liverpool will receive the Premier League trophy. Yes, that’s right. The Premier League trophy because we are the Premier League Champions for 2019/20.

Are We Ready For The Big Night?

It feels so good to write that. Again. And why not make the most of it. We’ve waited 30 long years to be able to say we are Champions of England. My youngest stepson is 30 and of course he hasn’t ever known us be champions until now. When he was growing up I used to tell him of the glory days. To such an extent he must have thought I’d made a lot of it up. But, at last, he can enjoy the experience himself. And make the most of it and savour the occasion.

This is only going to be a short post. I don’t want to get too carried away with the preamble, or to dwell too much on previous years, or get too carried away in general.

What I will say though is that it is a shame not to be there to really cherish the occasion. But we all know the reason why. It’s a small price to pay considering. I’m only mentioning it as it is something I have waited for for all of those long 30 years. I was in the ground the last time we won it in 1990m against QPR. And, it was an ongoing desire of mine to be in the ground the next time we won it. Assuming we were to win it still in my lifetime. But, as I say, a small price to pay. It’s just my own personal, little, nitpick of a tiny missing bit of the overall perfect occasion.

I will, like everyone else, really be looking forward to when Jordan Henderson does his, now trademark, little shuffle before picking up another trophy. Assuming of course he can still shuffle after his recent injury. Maybe not. Again, not to worry. Only a minor nitpick. Just seeing him picking the trophy up is as brilliant as it gets.

Are We Ready For The Big Night – Stay Safe Everyone

Yes, it’s frustrating not to be there tonight. I’ve already mentioned so above. But we have to be sensible. In keeping with the appeals from the club, all fans should stay away tonight. Stay safe at home and watch it on the TV. While doing so, let’s put a really positive spin on it. As already said, I was there 30 years ago when we won it. Little did anyone think then that we would have to wait 30 years to win it again.

So, rather than think tonight is a one-off, let’s think positively and hope and look forward to Jurgen winning it for us again in the near future. If and when this happens, let’s have a mega, mega party at the ground then. Hopefully, fans will stay away and the celebrations go down without any hitches.

Will The Roads Be Closed Off?

Anyone that comes out The Kop after a game will know that Walton Breck Road is partially closed off for normal traffic. Stewards police barriers ensuring that fans can walk safely down Walton Breck Road. Buses to take you back into town can be found behind a line of barriers.

Maybe barriers will be in place to prevent fans being able to approach the ground. That of course will prevent any crowds gathering outside the ground. Would this be the answer? Or would this just transfer the problem to elsewhere? The middle of town maybe? I think the middle of town potential issue would always be there anyway. Whether or not, the ground could be accessible.

Ultimately much, if not all, of it is down to the fans own levels of self discipline and perception of health and safety. The club and the media can only make the request. What actually happens is down to the individuals concerned in the main.

Whatever, let’s get back on track. Are we ready for the big night? I am and I am really looking forward to it. A tough game ahead against tough opponents. Let’s hope the real icing on the cake will be that we put in a performance and get the result the occasion deserves.

Stay safe everyone and enjoy tonight.
