Why Is Brendan Rodgers Talking About Andy Carroll?

Did I imagine it but did we not hear Brendan Rodgers saying yesterday that he wouldn’t discuss Andy Carroll until the end of the season? If so, what is all this about in the article below.

Already in his fledgling Liverpool career Rodgers has said a bit too much at the wrong time on more than one occassion. For instance, the “we are aiming for 2nd place” comment. We were battered by Aston Villa 3-1 at home in the next game.

And the “we are chasing Arsenal and Chelsea for a fourth place slot”. We were then well beaten by Southampton in the next game.

Many fans are of the opinion that the talking should first and foremost be made on the pitch. Wait until you actually get into the top four or second before you start shouting from the rooftops.

Will his Andy Carroll comments 24 hours after he said he wouldn’t talk about him until the end of the season now reduce Carroll’s value even further?

There has been much to admire from Brendan Rodgers this season but also he has made it very clear that he has a lot to learn.

In short Brendan, there is a time and place for comments. Choose your moments more carefully.

West Ham are next up for Liverpool and of course Andy Carroll cannot play as loanees are not permitted to play against their parent club. Wonder what sort of reception Joe Cole will get after his ill-advised critical comments about Liverpool a couple of months ago. Maybe West Ham should get him to place a wreath at the Kop end before the game before the minute’s silence in respect of and in memory of the 96 who died at Hillsborough – that’s if he can make it that far without stopping for a quick ciggie.

Anyway, watch the West Ham match build up below….
