Justice For The 96

20 years after the Hillsborough disaster and this totally inept Government have still failed to deliver what the victims families should have been given a long, long time ago – and that is justice for the deaths of their loved ones. For some reason this Government fails to recognise that this basic requirement should be the families right and not a privilege to be granted at the discretion of people who have clearly shown a total disregard and disrespect for the Hillsborough families ever since that fateful day on 15th April 1989.

With so much compelling evidence it is a total travesty that the Government have not brought the offenders from the South Yorkshire Police to justice. Some observers have said, and hoped, that the feeling of injustice would have subsided by now with the passing of time. Quite clearly, as well as their total disregard for the victims, they have also totally under-estimated the level of feeling that quite rightly exists. These feelings will never subside and should not be allowed to subside.

Total ineptitude and incompetence does not even begin to describe the actions of the woeful South Yorkshire Police on that day. But to rub salt on already gaping wounds, the lies and the cover-up that followed is unforgiveable. How the Government have allowed this to happen is beyond comprehension.

How can the Government ignore such strong evidence on the one hand and yet, in a non-football tragedy, commit our country and the lives of so many brave servicemen to a pointless war on the basis of a suspicion that weapons of mass destruction actually existed. As it so happened, no WMD were found and yet we find ourselves in a war that has much of its foundation based on a total lack of evidence. Both events are related in that there are so many lies and unexplained circumstances surrounding both.

In the last couple of days, South Yorkshire Police have finally admitted responsibility so you would think that alone would be enough to warrant opening a new enquiry. Don’t hold your breath.

On the same day in 1912, somewhere in the region of 1500 lives were sadly lost when the Titanic sank on its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York. If you do your research you will see in the aftermath, inquests and inquiries that followed, several individuals or group of people were held accountable and not unsurprisingly none of those to blame were the unfortunate passengers.

Nor could I find anywhere that the deaths were recorded as being accidental. Fortunately it wasn’t this Government that were around for these inquests otherwise you may have found that somewhere along the line it may have been suggested that the passengers contributed to their own demise by buying their cruise tickets in the first place and hitting the iceberg was an accident, and not as a result of gross negligence and ineptitude of the highest order.

To treat the Hillsborough victims deaths as an accident is yet again adding insult to injury for the families and all Liverpool fans across the world should continue to fight for justice until the day those responsible are correctly held accountable and dealt with accordingly.
