Liverpool FC target Thomas Ince should reject LFC move says father Paul

As the January transfer window gets ever closer to closure the rumours gather greater pace. Liverpool have been linked with former player, Tom Ince since the window re-opened and for some months before. Considering Blackpool managed to sign Ince some 18 months ago or so for a paltry £250,000 they seem to be playing hard ball with Liverpool by all accounts on the value of his transfer back to The Reds.

Now his father, former Liverpool captain Paul Ince, has entered the debate and has said that his son would be better off staying where he is if he wasn’t to get first team football. Of course he is entitled to want the best for his son but can any team in the Premiership guarantee regular, first team football?

There is no doubt that Tom Ince is a fine player and for many Liverpool fans it was a surprise that we sold him in the first place and he will no doubt feature in the first team on many occasions if he does sign. But will it be every game?

Hopefully the on-off saga will be resolved soon. If he is to sign then the sooner he gets himself tuned back into life at Anfield the better. If, however Blackpool are saying that they will not budge on their asking fee and it is way above Liverpool’s valuation of him, then we should close that particular door sooner rather than later as we can then move onto other transfer targets. We don’t really want a repeat of the August 2012 transfer window when we got caught out at the very end of the window and missed out on other long-term transfer targets, notably Clint Dempsey from Fulham.

Personally, I would love to see Tom Ince back at Liverpool. He was one of the stand-out players in the reserves when he played for us last time round. Let us hope the deal gets done.
