Bob Paisley clinched his third Division One title as Liverpool manager as they win the League for the 11th time. Liverpool beat Southampton 2-0 at Anfield to open up an unassailable lead at the top of the top ahead of soon-to-be-crowned European champions, Nottingham Forest. Ultimately, Liverpool won the League with ease by eight points as they went on to win their remaining three fixtures against Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and Leeds United.
