Rafa Benitez took Liverpool to another European Cup Final in 2007. On the way to that final we went to the Nou Camp, Barcelona on 21st February and triumphed by 2-1. In doing so, we confirmed our status of being the only English side to have won there playing against Barcelona (Man Utd won there against Bayern Munich in 1999). We have in fact won there twice. The other occasion being when we won there in the semi-final of the UEFA Cup in 1976.
In our 2007 encounter, goals from Craig Bellamy and John Arne Riise cancelled out Deco’s opener for Barcelona. A fantastic achievement by the Reds and very much a well deserved victory.
