As ever, irrespective of league places or what is at stake, the 220th Merseyside derby tomorrow no doubt will be a full-blooded, lively affair with both teams going at it hammer and tong.
If Everton win it will mean more than bragging rights as they will have guaranteed finishing above Liverpool for the second season running and preserve their hopes of European football next season. If Liverpool win it will take them to within two points of Everton and all but end Everton’s quest for European football. So, on the face of it Everton seem to have more to play for. Not that will carry much sway once the game gets under way.
For Liverpool, there have been two major contributors in the second half of the season and both are likely to feature tomorrow. Both have made a massive impact and lets hope they continue to do so tomorrow for all the right reasons. The players, in case you haven’t guessed yet, are Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge and both say they will not be fazed by making their Merseyside derby debuts…….

Let us hope for three points for Liverpool tomorrow but also let us not forget to keep all rivalries to friendly football banter.
