The day standing Kop said goodbye – Liverpool FC

I know it’s an old cliche – but it does only seem like yesterday. A very emotional day but a day I am privileged to say that “I was there”. The atmosphere throughout was fantastic. It’s just a shame that the football played by Liverpool that day did not reach the same levels. You can only imagine what The Kop would have been like if we actually had something to play for, or if the team gave the crowd anything to get excited about.

Norwich were the ultimate party poopers and made everyone around The Fields Of Anfield Road thoroughly miserable as they won quite easily by a single goal. I suppose a small consolation was that the goal was scored at The Kop end and, to be fair, it was a cracker. The goalscorer if I recall correctly was a player called Jeremy Goss, a blonde haired midfielder who had a liking for some spectacular goals.

You can see the goal in this short video below:

The highlight of the afternoon for me was when Kenny Dalglish came out as the parade of legends past walked out onto the pitch just before the game. The roof nearly came off The Kop. It was truly a fantastic moment to see again a player that had graced The Fields Of Anfield Road with his mesmeric skills for many years.
