A long “will he, won’t he” saga ended yesterday when Liverpool finally captured Joe Allen from Brendan Rodgers former club, Swansea. Much had been said about an agreement that Liverpool supposedly had with Swansea that Brendan Rodgers would not sign any players from Swansea for 12 months. If that was so then it just goes to show the value of contracts. Or, to look at it another way, every player has his price.
First impressions for many fans, after last pre-season’s high valued transfer signings, is that we have paid over the odds again for a British player. Only time will tell but we should get behind the new signing and back the manager’s judgement. He is recognised as being very talented and as Brendan Rodgers has himself, his talent is “frightening”. Let’s hope so and he goes on to become a Liverpool legend. He is only 22 years old, so time is on his hands. Welcome to Anfield Joe – YNWA!!
