Two brilliant second half goals from Kevin Keegan, either side of a well taken Steve Heighway goal, made sure that Liverpool beat Newcastle United with some ease in a relatively one-side 3-0 win in the FA Cup Final. The game was not only significant for the FA Cup victory but also because it signalled the end of Bill Shankly’s reign as Liverpool manager. Soon after the Final, Shankly announced his shock retirement so that he could spend more time with his family.
