Stoke Next Up At The Fields Of Anfield Road

Stoke, freshly promoted from the Championship are the next visitors to the Fields Of Anfield Road. After the week we’ve had so far let’s hope it will not be a case of “after the Lord Mayor’s Show”.

From what I’ve seen so far this season it appears that they will be very dangerous from set-pieces and in particular from Rory Delap’s long throw. He tends to throw it in from huge distances with a very low trajectory so we will need to be fully focused on the first and second balls. Don’t be surprised to Sami Hyppia involved tomorrow.

After last Saturday’s great win against Man Utd we really should be looking at another three points and, hopefully, an impressive performance.

Wednesday night saw us get our Champions League campaign off to a flyer against Marseille, albeit rather shakily at times, as they looked very impressive at times (well going forward at least). Without a doubt we have the hardest Champions League group (yet again – how come Utd always seem to get a virtual bye through the group?) and so Wednesday’s victory was especially impressive as they have made a really good start to their domestic season. Still, loads more work to do though.

No definite team news as yet but Robbie Keane will probably return and it would seem that Rafa Benitez will have a difficult decision to make in choosing between the equally impressive Ryan Babel and Albert Riera. At last Babel had a run-out down the middle on Wednesady and looked sharp and dangerous. Finally we look as though we have a variety of attacking options from various areas of the pitch.

Well, hopefully we will be celebrating another three points tomorrow and the Kop will be alive with the sounds of the Fields Of Anfield Road.
